This Scout site has a good tower/wall. It is available for use by guides, but the instruction situation isn't totally clear - the local area will be putting some people through GGUK Level 1 soon. In the meantiome please check in advance.

Trewavas Head

Level 4 - MIA

This sea cliff is mentioned as a venue for groups, but does not appear to be suitable for group use and is therefore graded as Level 4 for Guides - MIA only.

Cheesewring Quarry, Minions

Level 3 - SPA

This large old quarry has plenty of climbing, and a couple of areas are suitable for groups. Opposite the main face there is a lower face on the left (looking out) with some blocks and an old iron stanchion on top; this appears to be popular for groups. The right side of the main face appears to be popular for abseiling; however the only anchors are fence posts and caution should be exercised here. Most of the main face is not highly suitable for groups, and abseil takeoff points are not ideal. These first two mentioned are the only areas that should be used for groups.

Wadebridge Leisure Centre

Level 1

This is centre run by North Cornwall District Council, alongside a few other local leisure centres including Bude. They have an 'Extreme Sports' team who run all outdoor type activities - the team leader is Paul Meadows 07917 076 794.

We have yet to contact the team, but details will follow.

The wall in the leisure centre requires you to climb unprotected up an easy corner to set up ropes. You should only do this if you are familiar with the wall and happy to do so. The best thing would be to ask one of the centre's instructors to do this for you.
